Ski Grands Montets Home page

The chalet is up-valley in Argentière, a traditional Savoyarde village styled Queen of the Offpiste Resorts by The Independent. It can also boast an impressive snow record, with some of the best late season conditions when other resorts are struggling. At five minutes’ walk from the Grands Montets lift station, we’re cheek to cheek with the most sought-after skiing in the valley and within a stroll of the village’s many friendly shops and bars which include The Office, the bar with the transalpine reputation, whose lure is enough to bring them from as far afield as Verbier just for the evening.

We had such a happy week with you in Argentiere. Thank you so much for making it the best skiing holiday we have ever had. Your patience, humour and enthusiasm infected us all and made life incredibly enjoyable. And that’s not to mention your cooking!... Such delicious food is a rare treat on a chalet holiday.’

‘Food was excellent. You do not know what a relief it is for a restaurateur to sit down to full and proper meals.’
John and Sue Cushing, Goldstone Hall, Market Drayton

‘The chalet was above our expectations as was Michèle, whose company and cooking we thoroughly enjoyed. She had a marvellous way with four very tired children each day.’

We’ve missed your wonderful cooking ever since we got back - especially that fabulous chocolate mousse. The chalet was kept beautifully clean and your advice with regard to ski instructors, and where to go in Argentiere, was faultless.’

Chardon Bleu (sleeps 8-10) is special, and never fails of that all-important first impression. With huge picture windows on to a view of the massif and a spacious veranda for springtime picnics and aperitifs, we have a log fire, underfloor heating, a heated bootroom, telephone and fax at your disposal, a double garage for selfdrivers and, crucial to the success of your holiday, full size baths and plentiful hot water.

Your host, Michèle Young has 11 years’ experience of the valley. It’s a moot point whether the chalet, Michèle’s cooking or the glories of the Grands Montets can take the credit for Chardon Bleu’s repeat business. Perhaps all of these?

 Food

Superfast in the Kitchen as well

Chalet cuisine kickstarts your day with fruit juice, porridge, a choice of cereals, yoghourts, eggs in various guises, bakers croissants and baguettes. After your workout on or offpiste, you'll find the teatable laid with homemade cake, freshbaked bread and various spreads.
Help yourselves and Bon appetit !

Dinner's four courses stray between French and English cuisine, and might well begin with an airy goat's cheese and dill soufflé before coming to earth with Lakeland coo John Tovey's recipe for sticky toffee pudding. Our included house wine accompanies the meal but we also stock a choice of wines for those special occasions.

On days off Michèle will help you choose amongst the valley's embarras de choix of restaurants, which include the Michelin starred Albert Premier.
