lognan |
superb modern self service with stunning views from the sun terrace of Mont Blanc, Les Grands Montets and the Chardonnay. Hot and cold meals with swift service... oh a tip don't buy bottled water, if you take it without gas the local water is without equal ....fill your carafe as many times as you like. |
lognan coffee shop |
another recent addition with a great terrace and views. the lower terrace is the place to hang out whether you're a ski bum for the season or just the week. quick drinks and snacks, great staff (try some french they'll appreciate it) between mogul munching on the hearse or circuits of the 'Montets'. oh by the way the record for the most is 52 concurrent ...think about after you have done one! |
| plan joran | fabulous savoyarde chalet style restaurant, both self and a la carte table service. staff wear traditional attire and serve great food......just what you need after showboating down the bowl under the lifts..but remember everybody's watching! .......same deal on the water! |
| grands montets | small coffee and snack stop before assaulting one of the many routes down the mountain but without doubt the biggest attraction is the view. the whole of the valley is on display, magnificent vista of all the famous peaks even without climbing the stairs to the viewing platform, take it all in with a local schnapps. |
| lognan refuge | without doubt the best place on the mountain. a 100 year old climbing refuge recently refurbished but completely in keeping with the history. run by Olivier who descended from the Argentiere hut after five years as the guardian. Olivier serves traditional food with as much atmosphere as can be found anywhere in the alps. ski choices from here are either a challenging red back to the village, off piste tracks in the same direction, or for the faint of heart and maybe a drink for Olivier will get you a tow behind the snow mobile back to the track ! |
| Le Brevent (1095 - 2025)
Stage for the Snowthrill extreme games and the site of many Warren Miller and Glen Plake films. However there is something for everyone here at Le Brevent just minutes from the centre of town. On the sunny south facing side of the valley close to Chamonix town centre Le Brévent lift system offers a variety of pistes where all skiers, what ever their ability, will find runs to delight them. The surroundings are majestic; this is a remarkable natural belevedere. The summit of the Brévent offers a panoramic circular view of Mont-Blanc, the Aiguilles peaks of Chamonix, the Fiz massif and the Aravis mountains. Opened in 1998, for the first time, is a link with La Flégère lift system. |

| La Flégère
(1050m - 2450m) 2Km above Chamonix in the village of Les Praz a modern cable car whisks you to La Flégère on the south facing side of the valley. From La Flégère there are a variety of pistes and trails with exceptional views of the Mer de Glace and the whole of the Mont-Blanc range. There are wide sun-soaked gullies just waiting to be skied by skiers of all abilities from the complete beginner to the outrageously adventurous. Opened in 1998, for the first time, is a link with Le Brévent lift system. |
